with light rust. There was acid that ate through the small fuse block cover and surrounding area down to bare metal. I'm pretty sure the majority of the bay will be cleaned with brake clean as it makes any caked oil including cosmoline come off with little to no effort. I was working one particular section scrubbing for a few minutes and took it down to what looks like the primer. lol
I don't care either since I want to repaint the bay as well. The thing I am unsure of is, when do you stop cleaning? Does the painting surface have to be clean enough to eat off of or does the dirt, oil and grease just have to be gone because primer will lock anything else in.
